Hato Hone St John

St John volunteers and a Te Whatu Ora Health Improvement Practitioner (HIP) host the café, which provides tea, coffee, biscuits and activities such as jigsaws, puzzles, arts and crafts every Monday, expect public holidays at the Hato Hone St Jone Greymouth station. The cafe is designed so people can drop in, no need to register or book.

We want to help combat loneliness, with the support of multiple agencies in the district, to offer people who feel lonely the chance to get together to talk and connect with others.

Reduce pressure on primary care and save costs by providing a safe, calming, relaxing environment for members of the community, where people can feel less lonely, be comfortable, connect, and share a space with others who may need this social connection.

S J Café provides an opportunity for resources and information to be shared with members of the community. This information can be easily accessible, and able to be taken home by people to read in their own time.
