Our aim is to Our aim is to provide an effective and efficient search and rescue capability for the communities and visitors the broader Provincial Nelson areas. We are actively involved in all aspects of search & rescue that occur within our area off operation (greater provincial Nelson) We have averaged between 25 o 30 operational callouts a year over the last seven years. Within the urban areas we response operationally to missing persons suffering from Dementia, Autism spectrum Disorders, intellectual Disabilities, Despondent, Mental Illness, Substance Abuse and missing/overdue children. Out in the backcountry we respond operationally to missing/overdue, Trampers & Hikers, Cavers, Kayakers, Tourist etc. We are also used operationally for searching coastlines in marine operations and provide Trained Aeial Observers for the Rescue Coordination Centre (RCCNZ) when asked.
